According to the big shot money guys in Las Vegas, the over/under on Super Bowl XLVIII is 48 points. That means that the combined score by both teams will be more than a total of 48 points. The money line on the over/under is -110, which means that the Vegas guys do not have a lot of confidence that the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will score a total of 48 points in the game. Both teams find Vegas’ lack of confidence disturbing.
Super Bowl
If you want to place a strong over/under bet on Super Bowl XLVIII, then the smart money will go on the over. There are so many reasons why fans can expect a high scoring game in New Jersey on February 2, 2014, but there are three reasons in particular that fans should pay very close attention to before they place their bets.
Reason #1 – These Teams Can Score Points
When it comes to average points per game, the Denver Broncos are ranked first in the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks are ranked ninth. Combined, the two teams average 64 points scored per game. When last we checked, 64 points is a lot more than 48. The Broncos can score points in the rain, snow, and sunshine, while the Seahawks have plenty of experience in running up the scoreboard in lousy weather as well. Quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Peyton Manning are two of the most prolific quarterbacks in the NFL and both of these guys know how to find the endzone. When you add in the extra ability that Wilson has to run the ball for touchdowns, you can see why these two teams are scoring machines.

Reason #2 – The Broncos Alone Could Score 48 Points
Peyton Manning threw a league record 55 touchdown passes in 2013, while only throwing 10 interceptions. No matter how good the Seattle secondary may be, Peyton Manning has carved up the very best defenses in the NFL all season long. The Broncos scored a league record 606 points in the regular season, which averages out to around 38 points per game. If the young Seattle secondary gets too brash and too cocky, Peyton Manning will make them pay. If Seattle is not careful, Peyton Manning himself could score the 48 points needed to meet the over/under. All bettors would need at that point is a field goal from Seattle for the game to go over.
Reason #3 – The Seahawks Could Exploit the Weak Denver Secondary
NFL Super Bowl Action
When the New England Patriots lined up to go for the two-point conversion late in the AFC Championship game, everyone thought that Tom Brady, one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, would throw for the points against a weak Denver secondary. When New England ran the ball up the middle, it ruined its chances of winning the game. Seattle will not make that same mistake. The Seahawks will exploit the Denver secondary with Russell Wilson’s arm until Seattle has scored 48 points or more.
This year’s Superbowl is looking like a big one. The Broncos have the ranking, but the Seahawks are coming up fast. Who will come out on top? Follow Northbet on Twitter to stay up on the news from all your favourite teams, and be sure to check out these Northbet reviews.
